On September 25th, 2010 Muscular Dystrophy Canada presented the Barrie Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 1753 with the National Fire Department of the Year Award.
Accepting the award was Muscular Dystrophy Canada Chair, Charlie Gray, Deputy Chief Rick Monkman and fellow fire fighters Jamie Healey and Mick Caldwell.
Since 1970, the Barrie Local has raised $842,500 for those affected with muscular dystrophy and they continue to organize the largest Boot Drive in Canada. While accepting their award they also presented a cheque from their 2010 Boot Drive which raised $51,305.27.
Congratulations to Barrie Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 1753 for being recognized as the Department of the Year. The benevolent work you do in your community and for those affected with muscular dystrophy is truly inspiring.
